STaaS – Store Any Data with ease of secured access

Today Data is well defined by the term as “Oil of Next Generation or Era” which needs to be preserved for Knowledge and source of information. Today’s Generation is using Data to monetize it in various forms and factors to make the Economy Grow for a sustainable future. Data can be used in many ways to benefit personally, officially, and socially, few examples of Data Monetization are given below:

  • Data as a Service (DaaS) – This is the simplest way. Mostly direct method of data monetization
  • Insights as a Service (IaaS) – This involves combining Internal & External data sources and applying Analytics to provide Insights and usefulness of a particular data
  • Analytics – Enable Platform as a Service (PaaS) and
  • Embedded Analytics and Data Visualization

Importance of any data has evolved with lot of emergence and excitement with Data keepers around the world. Data is blended from multiple sources to build a single dashboard by applying AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Advance Analytics to achieve result which helps in Monetization of Data. With all these activities the phenomenal growth of Data is expected to reach in ZiB (Zetta Bytes) and YiB (Yotta Bytes) very soon. Researchers say the volume of Digital Business data to be stored is growing at the rate of 40% to 60% year on year fuelling the need for managed data center services. Once this happens Data Retention and Manageability will be the next big challenge for the World. OEMs and start-ups around the world have been coming out with multiple Storage Platforms and technologies to mitigate this challenge. Cloud service providers have also stepped up their game in this direction. We are aware on the availability of Data Storage in various forms and types where data is kept in such a way that it can be available anytime, anywhere and in any device through Direct or indirect channels.

Storage as a service

One might be having a data size of 1TB to 1000TB or beyond and he or she would be storing the data in Block/File/Object based Storage depending upon the nature of data and accessibility required. Storing a definite size or fixed size of data On-Premises. Storage is not a challenge, but it becomes challenging if someone has to store a data which increases and decreases in capacity depending on the nature of application and its data generation capability. If you have a data size of, say 1PB (Petta Byte) and the projected capacity of data in next 3 years is 5PB then the cost challenge occurs in terms of CAPEX and OPEX expenses. One has to buy the entire 5PB of Storage in the 1st year as Capex however he will only use 1PB in the current year. This way he ends up spending more than what is required. Here we have a classic example of having (Cloud Storage) or (Storage on Cloud) or Storage-as-a-Service model where we can bifurcate the business Data and Long-Term Retention or Archival Data and store it more intelligently On-Premises as well as on-Cloud. Here Storage-as-a-Service (STaaS) plays a very important role in balancing the performance / Availability / Scalability / Security with Data privacy and most importantly the Cost in the form of Capex. Investing huge in storing unstructured data On-Premises is a costly affair because that needs Data Storage in the form of CAPEX and maintaining the same box in the form of OPEX with additional investment on Data Backup too.

Now people have started adopting the smart way of preserving their important data in a Pay-as-you-Go model with STaaS (Storage-as-a-Service) where they have been able to achieve the Flexibility in consumption, Guaranteed SLA’s (Service Level Agreement) and SLO’s (Service Level Objectives) and increasing their Data Agility to strengthen their Storage Infrastructure while maintaining their heavy investments in the form of CAPEX and cost escalations in the form of OPEX. With the way Indian economy is growing and the new age digital business model cropping up, Storage as a service (Off-Premises Storage) will witness more acceptance in the marketplace.

If you are interested in finding out whether moving to Storage-as-a-Service might work well for your organization then now is the time to act and write to us here. We will be happy to help you in your digital data journey.
